Foundations Level 1 – 200 HR Teacher Training

Led by a Senior Facilitation team, our 200-hour yoga teacher training is one of the most comprehensive courses available, and the foundation to becoming an authentic, effective and impactful yoga teacher.
Our teaching approach is to invite our students in an ongoing process of self exploration where we step away from standardised aesthetics, alignment and dogma to move more deeply into sensing, feeling and directly experiencing ourselves and our bodily knowing.
This training is appropriate for the serious student who would like to start teaching yoga, as well as the student who would like to deepen their own knowledge & personal practice.
The Core Life 200 HR curriculum trains you to deliver a strong well-rounded group class interweaving the physical & philosophical components of the practice. This program focuses on informed alignment based on a sound knowledge of anatomy and contemporary movement principles; on experiential insight into asana, pranayama and yoga nidra; and on practicality when dealing with yoga philosophy and teaching methodology.
We encourage a creative focus that will unlock each student’s individual potential and unique expression. This involves a powerful journeying inwards to find your own voice with which to lead others along the path with skill and authenticity. Through this process, the you will find the inspiration and intuition to craft a practice that educates, uplifts and heals others.

Our training is recognised by Yoga Alliance Australia and focuses on 3 modules.
Module 1: Mind & Energetics
This Module delves deeply into explorations of consciousness and the rich world of mind-body psychology from a Yogic perspective. Students will continue to gain strong foundation in the art and science of yoga as they are facilitated on a journey towards a felt sense of wholeness.

Module 2 : Body
This Module focuses on discovering the total sense of embodiment from the Core Life Yoga perspective. Cognitive understanding, experiential anatomy and somatic exploration is the launching pad to understand and embody anatomy in movement. This module utilises experiential movement principles, anatomy, biomechanics, Anatomy Trains – myofascial meridians, and physiology as a platform for effortless, empowered and embodied movement and asana.
Through specific practices you will tap into the felt sense of different systems of the body, skeletal, fascial, organ, muscular, developmental and nervous system in order to gain awareness, registry and resonance of these systems as a source for awakening, movement and expression.

Module 3 : Expression
This Module focuses on developing and refining skills in composing and crafting your expression as a teacher. We will explore strategies and tools for teaching Yoga Asana and Pranayama. An effective yoga class is a mindful blend of many complementary elements: creative yet intelligent class planning and sequencing; educational and appropriate anatomical cues; relevant and inspiring themes; expressive and uplifting language, and much more. You will develop the capacity to read and respond to the classroom resonance, strengthen your vocal/physical instrument, build confidence to take the seat of the teacher in order to deliver a solid, authentic and professional yoga class. Expressing with confidence and clarity is an art form that will set your teaching apart.

Who is this training for?
This training is for you if you are enlivened by the idea of embodying, learning, studying, practicing, and being curious about yoga and your own growth. You’re open: to do the work, to find truth, have fun and aim to gain the skills to teach authentically, knowledgeably and professionally. You need to have a minimum of one year consistent practice, including regular 3-6 day per week practice. We carefully select our applicants so that we can work closely with our teachers to guarantee a higher level of proficiency.
This training requires you to commit yourself 100%. This includes: being on time to all sessions, being coachable in the moment and being open to try on what is offered.
ON COURSE: Daily you can expect up to a 2 hour yoga practice, theory, somatic inquiry, meditation, group discussions , partner work and feedback.
AT HOME: You will be given weekly homework assignments consisting of discussion forums, review points, pranayama practice, practice teaching and weekly personal practice recommendations. You should plan for 3-4 hours a week of homework plus a regular yoga practice.

What is Flow?
The ultimate aim of yoga practice is to be fully present in the here and now. The tendency of the mind is to distract from the moment. When we observe how we scatter between the past and future, we can hold a space for recognising, allowing and releasing these aspects of self. We can then experience the ‘whole’ self, as a flow of thoughts, feelings and movement from one moment to the next. Flow is achieved when body, mind, and spirit are at one, when the present moment is so compelling that everything else disappears. Time slows, ego dissolves, and fear fades. The state of flow is a meditation. It is this state that we hope to achieve during our practice of Deep Core Flow.
Meet the 200Hr Teacher Training Team
This program is led by a senior facilitation team who are without a doubt amongst the most experienced and qualified in the world. Our teaching teams boasts extremely diverse backgrounds in Yoga and bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge that will inspire a high level of proficiency and skill.
Jen Hamilton is Founder of Cairns Beaches Yoga, co-founder of Core Life Yoga and visionary behind the Core Life Teacher Trainings. Jen’s classes have evolved over the past 20 years of teaching yoga to reflect her ongoing creativity, understanding and curiosity for healing and empowerment through yoga and movement. Jen believes the body is the portal to happiness and wellbeing – to be able to sense, feel and gain mastery over our tangible form invites deeper embodiment of our true self so we may flourish in our lives.
Jen teaches with warmth and humour, encourages lightness, exploration and self-empowerment. Her intention is always to create an inclusive environment where you can cultivate the self acceptance, awareness and confidence needed to make positive and lasting change in your life.
Jen is 1500Hr Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Australia, and Co – Director of Teacher Training and Curriculum Development.
Han Wee Tan
Having always had a keen interest in philosophy and the esoteric, Han found Yoga through a traditional Yoga Ashram where he trained for 2 years, studying Yoga in all its aspects – as a physical, mental and emotional practice. He then continued to live at that ashram for another two and a half years, developing himself both as a teacher and as a person.
Yoga has since become an important way of life for him, one that is continually leaning towards ease and efficiency, joy and compassion. He believes that true healing and transformation can only happen when we take the self as an integrated whole and appreciate the relationships between its parts. It is this holistic form of Yoga he looks to share through every one of his classes for the nurturing of body, mind and spirit. Han has played a major role in Curriculum Development. Han is a Co – Director of Teacher Training and Curriculum Development, his depth of knowledge and embodiment of Yoga has contributed to a rich and comprehensive curriculum.
Drew is a movement educator, bodyworker and self-described body-nerd and anatomy-geek. Embarking in the mid-1990’s on a journey of self-exploration he left behind a career in computer science to become a Myofascial Bodyworker, Thai Massage therapist, yoga and Pilates instructor. Along the way he fell in love with human anatomy and has had the opportunity to teach it in a variety of settings. Forever a student and deeply curious about the human body and movement, he continues to expand his knowledge through on-going studies and is currently undertaking a Diploma of Pilates Movement Therapy. Drew’s passion is helping others find better health through embodied movement and intentional living and his classes are an opportunity to discover how your body works in a fun and playful way while simultaneously cultivating mental clarity and inner peace.
Hollie is an Occupational Therapist and Yoga Teacher, who has devoted her career to understand fully, the sophisticated interplay of the human mind & body, with our environment, to find health and wellness in the everyday. Off the mat, Hollie has extensive experience working with people during life’s difficult physical or psychological transitions, such as traumatic injury, accidents or illness, providing hand’s on rehabilitation treatments and/or case management support.
On the mat, Hollie’s yoga classes offer something for all levels, as she combine’s her vast knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation by skilfully guiding each student toward their own version of integrated awareness, via playfulness and self exploration. With a practice eye and priority on adaptability, Hollie creates a space for you to find awareness of body and mind, through yoga.

The course is delivered in Cairns, Australia over 5 months in 8 weekend immersions and a 5 night all inclusive immersion retreat. Studying part time over weekends means you can easily slot this training into your work and family commitments, have time to soak up the information and enjoy the process or practicing and embodying Yoga.
Weekend session times are: Saturday 12 to 6pm and Sunday 8am to 4.30pm.
During the retreats, mornings begin with a 2hr practice, and our days are filled with intensive study delving into anatomy, pranayama, movement principles and alignment of the yoga postures laying the foundation for your teaching. Evenings include study of some of the philosophical and other topics being covered.

Sanctuary Retreat, Mission Beach, North Queensland
For those interested in more creature comforts, then the deluxe canopy cabins may be for you. Larger than the rainforest huts, these cabins are stylishly appointed with polished wooden floors, handmade natural timber furniture and spectacular glass-walled bathrooms looking out high in the trees.
Accessed by a boardwalk to protect the forest floor, the secluded rainforest huts have no solid walls; instead the timber structure is screened on all four sides with weatherproof curtains. A minimalist design maximises the sights, sounds and smells of the rainforest. Each hut has a small veranda, simple furnishings and sleeps two in either double or twin occupancy. Huts are share Bathroom (10 – 70 metres away)
